Smasher City gets a ill-tempered-weapons platform open beta this weekend

EA wants you to evade, duck, dip, dive, and dodge your way through competitive ball-hucker Knockout City, throwing up an open beta for the 3v3 bowl this Fri direct Monday.

Announced in February with a lagger that was more memorable for its framing than the game itself, Knockout City is a dodgeball team deathmatch. Ii teams compete to slam each other with ruffian rubber balls, using caper-shots, fake-outs and bang-up old hero abilities to see to it their opponents can't catch their throw and barb 'pica right back.

A closed beta followed the game's reveal that calendar month. But this weekend, anyone and everyone can get in, with a cross-political program beta across Steamer, consoles, and a new-proclaimed spot on the Epic Games Store. The beta bequeath feature ternary modes (Team up KO, Face-Off and Baseball diamond Dash) across four maps, with four special balls to prefer from.

Of course, novelty arena shooters own a ill-famed habit of fizzling out pretty fast (remember Eruca sativa Area, anyone?). In his preview, Tyler was incredulous of Mantrap Metropolis's ability to storage area an audience, given its haphazard 'hello, young man kids' art direction. But the core dodge-fighting has predict, and between being temporarily gratis at launch and supporting full cross-trifle, Smasher Metropolis might hold ou long enough to find solid footing.

The Stunner City Staring Beta commode be pre-loaded now, going go Friday, April 2nd at 6am PT / 2pm BST. Knockout Urban center launches fully this May 21st.
